Optowiz Inc. says that they have successfully completed design verification test (DVT) of their semi-tunable SFP28 transceiver in which the DWDM optical module transmitted 25G over 20km in Korea 5G mobile fronthaul links.
Optowiz has introduced 25 Gb/s DWDM transceivers with the semi-tunable operation. The channel spacing of the SFP28 is 150 GHz at O-band wavelength region. The module has a DFB LD in a cooled TOSA with 2.4 nm tuning by a TEC. The SFP28 with APD ROSA still maintains 2.5W over -30 ~ 85 o C. This semi tunable SFP28 will provide effective but simple and low cost solutions for 5G WDM fronthaul networks.
Facing ever-increasing demand of high bandwidth, low latency, plug-and-play and simple OAM at 5G mobile fronthaul network, service providers continue to upgrade their existing DU-RU fronthaul WDM infrastructure while attempting to reduce the management cost of their services. Optowiz, working closely with service providers, have been improving some parts of CWDM technologies for the continual use of existing investment in optical fibers by adding double-density (called 2WL SFP or SFP+) cooled CWDM transceivers. Optowiz now offers even more value added solution in the existing CWDM link by divide into more than16 channels. At near future, total capacity of CWDM in a single fiber can be 16 channels x 18 bands = 288 channels.
This semi-tunable SFP28 will give effective provision method for system operator allowing set of DWDM channels and data rates of 10 Gb/s and 25 Gb/s by using remote re-set. Dr. Yang adds this semi-tunable solution will provide simple and low cost by reducing inventory.
